Nicholas van Irsel Mechanical Design Engineer Nicholas van Irsel is a sales and design engineer. He has a strong grasp of design engineering after studying mechanical engineering and physics for 6.5 years at university. This study, combined with five years at Taurus Engineering- working up from an intern to a quantity surveyor, to a sales and design engineer- has enabled Nic to develop solutions to problems that satisfies all stakeholders in any project. Having a Bachelor in Engineering (Honours) helps Nic design and negotiate with the various consultants involved in projects, particularly addressing concerns and requirements where the original designs are impractical or costly. A Bachelor of Physics background allows Nic to adopt different approaches to problem solving. For example, he can approach problems at arms-length and, together with the Taurus team, can always come up with a workable solution.
