Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Ke Jiang and her team from the University of Canterbury at our Taurus workshops. They are conducting research on the potential long-term cost benefits of using stainless steel in rail bridges, despite the high initial costs.
Taurus, with our extensive experience in manufacturing and our workshops for both stainless steel and carbon steel, is excited to potentially play a role in this important research project.
“Our collaboration aims to leverage our manufacturing expertise to support innovative research that could lead to more cost-effective and durable solutions in the rail industry,” said General Manager, Shane Smith.

Taurus underwent a SIRI Assessment conducted by LMAC. This comprehensive evaluation provided us with valuable insights, allowing us to benchmark our manufacturing processes against local and global standards. By identifying our strengths and areas for improvement, we can better prioritize development efforts and resources.
The SIRI Assessment (Smart Industry Readiness Index) is a structured framework involving three core elements of the Industry 4.0 revolution: process, technology, and organization. It helps manufacturers benchmark against peers, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop a digital transformation roadmap.
We are grateful to the LMAC team for their expertise and support, which has provided us with such an in-depth and valuable assessment.
